Individual Project #2 : A DIFFERENT ENDING
Heyyyooo everyone!💀 Johanna the Elephant🐘 is back to scare you. *evil laugh* (I'm kidding😛) This morning, Mr. Dankur asked, "Have you ever read a story or watch a film and then, you wish the ending were different?" Well, I guess everyone in my class has, including me. When you read a story, sometimes the ending is unexpected (in a good way or the other). In this blog, I will make my 'ending' version from a story I have read. Let's get started!
Several days ago, I was searching for a horror story on English E-Reader, and I found this :
https://english-e-reader.net/book/the-masque-of-the-red-death-edgar-allan-poe |
"The Masque of the Red Death" was written by Edgar Allan Poe. This story is an A2-level (Elementary), and it consists 5 pages with 1202 words. The genre of this story is gothic -horror. What is the story about? I will tell you briefly, but if you want to read the whole story, I have attached the link.😉
The story is about a terrible disease called the Red Death. This disease killed half of the people in the country and no one can cure the disease. Prince Prospero, the ruler of the country was very scared and wanted to escape from this terrible disease. He called all his courtiers -the most powerful people- to stay in the castle and had a masque party. The gate was closed, so no one could get in or out. There were seven rooms in the castle with a different color except for the sixth and the last room -they were colored black-. In the last room, there was a big old clock with a bell, and it rang every hour.
When it came to midnight, the bell rang twelve times. The courtiers stopped and waited the bell to stop. Suddenly, they saw a stranger. They remembered that no one could get in. The prince saw the stranger's mask, it was terrible. It was a dead man's mask with blood on the mask, it reminded the prince to the Red Death. The prince commanded to kill him, but everyone was too scared. The stranger walked through the rooms, and he stopped at the seventh room. The prince followed him and ready to kill him. Suddenly, the stranger turned toward Prince Prospero and he realized that THE STRANGER WAS NOT WEARING A MASK! The prince cried in pain, he fell onto the ground and died. What about the others? They fell onto the floor with blood came out from their ears, eyes, and noses. The ruler was taken by the Red Death. THE END.
What do you think about the ending? Well.. If I were the author, I would make the ending like this⏬
The prince was very scared, but he knew that he has a big responsibility for his people. "I should... No. I MUST save my people from this situation," said the prince with a high spirit. He gathered all his courtiers, they examined the cases and tried to find a way out. After a month, they finally found the weakness of the Red Death. He could not bear lights, so he always attacked the people at night.
The next day, they held a meeting to set a strategy to kill him. They got an idea, they will make him come to the castle and trap him in the middle of spotlights. The day had come, everyone was nervous and hoping the plan to go well. Prince Prospero and his courtiers had gathered at the castle, while the people were suggested to stay at home, locked their doors and windows. The gate was opened, they waited in the darkness until midnight. The Red Death came! It worked! Everyone in the castle was ready, when the Red Death arrived at the hall, everyone pointed the spotlights to him. He screamed loudly and his mask broke into pieces. At this time, Prince Prospero took his sword and chopped the Red Death's head. The country was no longer filled with fear. THE END.
How's my 'ending'? The prince was totally different, I made him a brave prince. He did not run away from his responsibility and saved his people. I hope you like my 'ending' version, drop a comment about it. Thank you and see you!🐘
